Made from Natural Southern Yellow Pine, unlike most pine Futon Frames that are made from soft white pine, Southern Yellow Pine is the strongest and hardest in the softwood family. In fact, Southern Yellow Pine has 80% of the strength of Oak, without the high cost. These wood futon frames have a beautiful and distinctive grain structure (hard summer wood interlaced with the softer spring wood) We don’t put a finish on these frames, this allows you the flexibility to customize the finish as you like to match your decor or leave natural. This Attractive and sturdy Pine Platform Bed has solid wood slats spaced evenly so the futon mattress has proper air circulation, there is absolutely no plywood or particle board used in the construction of our Platform Bed frames. Natural Wood Finish

We leave our futon frames unfinished, you do not need to put a finish on our futon frames. They are sanded smooth and can be easily finished with you favorite stain, oil or paint, or left as natural wood. Our favorite way to finish these frames is with a natural product, we have had great success with called Oil Wax Finish, from a company called AFM Safe Coat. This product is natural and non-toxic, super easy to apply and really brings out the natural warmth and beauty of the wood. It contains a combination of natural resins and waxes that together create a durable, water repellent, water-mark resistant finish and sealer, enhancing and maintaining wood beauty and breathability. Sanding or special tools are not needed, simply rub the oil on the wood with a clean cloth. One quart will finish 2-3 frames.
