Futons have been around for hundreds of years. They are incredibly versatile. College students love them, apartment dwellers adore these space saving couch-beds, business people use them in their offices for their occasional sleepovers, people buy them for their guest rooms, but most folks buy them as their main bed.

I have slept on futons for years, so when I had the opportunity to buy Northern Naturals knowing that their biggest seller was futons, I was thrilled.

I was not only excited to get behind a product I believed in, I was delighted to be able to offer a wonderful alternative to a conventional bed which is often problematic because of the amount of synthetic material used especially when complying with fire retardant regulations.

Alternative bedding solutions are not easy to come by. I have seen top of the line organic beds. While these are truly wonderful, they come with a really high price tag. Here at Northern Naturals our futons are as natural as possible at a very affordable price. For over a decade, customers keep coming back to buy futons for themselves and their kids and their cousins.

Customers say it better than I can. They tell me they love the sleep they get on our futons. They love the soft medium firmness of the bed, and they love that they can sleep in peace knowing that there is no harmful out-gassing from harmful chemicals. They are priced right and you can even get custom sizes made. Many have purchased them attic rooms because you can get it up a small stairway and bend it around a tight corner. Some have bought them for their RV. Futons have been made into window seats and cushions and almost any custom size can be ordered.

The inner core of these futons is made from recycled fabric which is laced with poly threads that when heated is bonded together creating an eco friendly type of “fabric-foam”. This core is then wrapped in cotton batting and dusted with boric acid a natural fire retardant that is safe with no out-gassing.

I visited the manufacturing center and it is a really an extraordinary plant. First I was impressed at how clean it is. As a woman I notice these things. All the raw materials were stacked neatly from floor to ceiling and the multi-million dollar machinery is immaculately kept. On top of this the operation is a great testimony for how recycled raw material can be made into functional and affordable products. They have been at this for over 25 years and it an efficient and carefully run operation. I was pleased with the futon before I went, and now I am down right excited to be able to offer even more deals as we spread the word about these futons.
