Our Dust Mite Resistant Bedding
I took some time to research this little dust mite critter since it shows up all over your house and particularly the bedroom. These little creepy crawlers are travelers and can invade a house very easily by taking a ride on your sock, a stuffed animal, but most of all through bedding. On average there are two million of them in a double bed mattress. Yicks! All of them are feasting on dead skin that is shed from your body. While you sleep they are dining out. The bed is a perfect breeding ground for dust mites. They have no respiratory systems and absorb both air and moisture through their bodies and they can survive on very little moisture. They love the warm moist environment your breath and sweat creates. Dust mites aren’t really the heart of problem. It is the dust from their fecal matter, molted eco-skeletons and dead body parts that people react to. Symptoms range from coughing and sneezing to congestion, exhaustion, headaches, skin rashes, itchy eyes, runny nose and postnasal drip. More and more importance is placed on natural and organic bedding because they are resistant to dust mites. Northern Naturals hosts a number of these, and the more I read about dust mites, the happier I am that we offer alternatives to the conventional bedding options. Lynda Leonard, owner
